The Problem
Fleas are blood-feeding parasites that commonly enter NZ homes via cats and dogs. Cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) are the most common species, biting humans as well as pets. Flea eggs fall into carpets and furniture where larvae develop, making DIY treatments ineffective against the full lifecycle. Flea activity peaks in summer but can persist year-round in heated homes.
